Marquis de Montesquiou - The oldest spirit in France, Armagnac is obtained from the distillation of white wine in a still, followed by slow ageing in oak casks. Napoleon - On the nose, leather aromas blend with oak, vanilla, and dried fruit notes. On the palate, it combines soft summer fruits, like peach and apricot, with a hint of bitterness and vanilla accents.
XO - The bouquet is alive with vanilla, oak, and fruity nuances, with hints of allspice and cinnamon. On the palate, it has a rounded oak flavor with vanilla accents, and a luxurious finish that lingers in the mouth.
Vintage 1965 - This vintage is produced from a combination of Bas-Armagnac grapes and a large proportion of Ugni Blanc. The nose on this deep amber spirit is aggressive and fiery, followed by smooth earth and rounded fruit on the palate with a hint of apricot. Warm complexity with prominent vanilla and wood is followed by lingering, toasted nuttiness and a soothing, elegant finish.
Vintage 1971 - This vintage is made from a balanced blend of Ugni blanc and Folle Blanche, which give the Armagnac great finesse. Golden-amber in color, the plumy nose has fleeting floral hints. Silky and broad on the palate with great ripeness of fruit, its depth is highlighted by burnt caramel and subdued wood. There is a surprising but pleasant brininess in its long, healthy finish.
